364/365 Blizzard at Curbar Edge

Doesn't it look wintry? What you can't really see is the horizontal snow, the gale blowing, the stinging eyes and the fingers with no feeling in them... Can we go when the sun's out next time please?!

123/365 Lumsdale waterfalls

Well, words almost fail me - almost! I had a fantastic afternoon in photographer heaven. I went on another walk with some DCPC members and some walkers to Lumsdale, near Matlock, for my first serious waterfall pictures. (Two walks in less than a week - blimey! I'm in danger of getting fit here!) So it was almost impossible to select a single shot for today's entry, so I'm posting 2 ........ plus a collage. I've done some quick edits on some of the best shots and plan to revisit in the near future with the family and a picnic. Wow. Thanks Tony ;0))

116/365 The Hanging Gate

After a hard weekend's work in the garden, what better reward than a lovely meal at our favourite country pub? This is The Hanging Gate - they have a new sign since our last visit, its a hanging gate, perfect. Its at Shottlegate on the A517 Ashbourne to Belper Road (put Shottlegate, Derbyshire into Google Earth, its east of the crossroads) and we should go more often.
When we order we have a painted wooden spoon with a number on (47 this evening) and that's what the waitress looks for when she brings the food, you have to place it in the pewter tankard with the cutlery so she can see it easily. Oliver brought along a magazine to look at. Jodie brought some colouring to do. Dad brought his wallet. I brought my camera.
